A native of Queens, New York, Michael earned a M.S. in Education.
Currently the Physical Education Guide at Primavera Montessori
School, Michael brings more than 6 years experience in both public
and private schools teaching children Pre-K through High School
to the camp. He believes that many children learn to think more
clearly through movement.
One of the schools he taught at was the Krishnamurti school
in Ojai, California called the Oak Grove. Krishnamurti was a
philosopher who believed that education should emphasize the
cultivation of the mind and heart, not only academics.
No stranger to sports and movement, Michael loved sports as
a child, taught at sports camps and coached athletic teams as
an adult. He is certified to teach yoga through IKYTA and
YKI.
Michael is also certified in CPR and First Aid.
About Michael:
“…The reason that afterschool is such a privilege
for them is that Michael Zumpano is there.”
Jael Polnac
mother of two boys who protest if they can’t stay for the

“…But Michael was going to teach us how to play
Blob Freeze Tag today!”
